Dec. 21, 2011, extra column: Family dishes out pie-ty This column originally appeared in the Amarillo Globe-News on Dec. 24, 1998. It was reprinted in the "Our Town" section of the Globe-News on Dec. 21, 2011.
I've been married to Kathy (an Amarillo girl) since 1991. She worked at Harrington Cancer Center in Amarillo for 28 years before moving to Panhandle Cancer Care Center in January 2013. From 1991 to 2016, I taught journalism at Amarillo College (not quite starting a chain of spelling schools as my high school class prophecy said, but close!). No kids, but we spend quite a bit of time watching nieces and nephews play basketball, tennis, etc. And we have a white Pekingese (that's a dog) named Abbey (after the Beatles' Abbey Road). I lived in Lubbock for about 15 years, working at Texas Tech and the Lubbock newspaper, before moving closer to home in 1990. I write a column in the Faith section of the Amarillo Globe-News.
